Brendan Lost His First Tooth, Too!

Less than one month after Aidan lost his first tooth, little brother Brendan follows suit. Yesterday, I convinced him to finally let me pull the really loose tooth on the bottom--it was starting to look really gross because of how far it could move forward and back. He kept losing his nerve, but it was easy to make him brave again by giving him the option of letting me pull it gently... or letting Daddy get the pliers to pull it out. Ha!

It was even funnier that he and Aidan looked like twinkies, since they decided to wear matching clothes yesterday as well. Here are a couple of pictures...

Saturday at the Sports Complex

We pretty much spent the entire day at the Hays Youth Sports Complex, beginning with our team soccer pictures at 10:15am. It was soooo cold and windy and the boys were absolute troopers, regardless of the fact that I didn't put long-sleeved shirts on underneath their jerseys! I thought the shirts underneath--or any item of clothing that wasn't part of the uniform--wouldn't look that great for pictures. However, the boys were the ONLY kiddos without some type of wintery-weather garb on...

But, it turned out to be a beautiful day, despite the relentless winds. After their game, we went home to drop off Daddy, then back over to the complex to watch Tristan's game.

Later that evening, we ended up back at the complex to watch Beck's and Chris' tee ball game. Although, I'm not sure just how much of the game they watched... they were too busy socializing and running around with all the other kids they knew up there.

It was a fun day, but I'm ready for spring weather to return.

Total Domination on the Pitch

The boys had their second soccer match with HYSA and did excellent! Aidan scored three goals; Brendan scored two goals. This is their fourth season playing soccer and they both really love this sport... which makes me very, very happy.

Space Center Houston

On Wednesday, we all visited NASA/Space Center Houston for the first time. It was interesting in some aspects, but still not quite the interactive experience we were expecting. Because of all of our varying stages of sickness, we ended up leaving home much later in the day than planned and that put us at the facility between 2:30 and 3pm. This did not give us quite enough time to do everything, but we did cover most of the main visitor attractions, including the "Living in Space" module/simulator (a cross-section look at the space station living quarters); the tram tour (visited the old mission control facility and Rocket Park, which houses the Saturn V rocket); and "Blast Off Theatre," where we got a look at the past, present and future of NASA's space flight history and had an opportunity to view mission-control and the shuttle Discovery's current stage in its mission... real-time.

While the boys played in the gargantuan playscape with hundreds of other kids, I took the last opportunity of the day to look at a full-size shuttle replica of the flight deck, which was probably one of the most interesting sights aside from seeing the Saturn V rocket lying sideways in a giant metal building!

Will we be purchasing season passes or visiting Space Center Houston in the next year? Not likely. But, we all had a fun day nonetheless!

Jr. NBA Basketball in San Antonio

A few of us from the San Marcos Activity Center's Winter '09 Jr. NBA Basketball gathered at the AT&T Center in San Antonio to officially wrap up the season. The kids got to play on the exact same court that the Spurs would be playing on a little later that evening. They enjoyed the camaraderie!

Afterward, we joined a couple of our friends for lunch at Mi Tierra in Market Square, then let the kids burn off some of that energy at a nearby park.

To top off the evening, we enjoyed watching the Spurs beat the Timberwolves from our nose-bleed seats in section 221. This was ours and the boys' first professional basketball game, but the boys got into all the action like they had done it a million times before.

The Tooth Fairy Will Be Visiting Aidan Tonight!

He is soooo excited!

Aidan FINALLY lost his first tooth this morning. My brave little boy decided that he wanted me to pull it for him before school. It was pretty loose, but probably could have lasted another day or two on its own, without my intervention. But he was determined... Apparently, he told his classmates that he would have a "window" today and didn't want to show up without one there.

I told him it may hurt if I pull it right now, because there was still plenty of gum attached on the sides. He told me, "I don't care. Pull it." So, I did. It didn't end up hurting him much, though. I will never forget the look on his face when he knew it was out.

By the way... Yes, that is blue marker ALL OVER his hands! I never got a straight answer from him about how he got so messy at school today.
