Space Center Houston

On Wednesday, we all visited NASA/Space Center Houston for the first time. It was interesting in some aspects, but still not quite the interactive experience we were expecting. Because of all of our varying stages of sickness, we ended up leaving home much later in the day than planned and that put us at the facility between 2:30 and 3pm. This did not give us quite enough time to do everything, but we did cover most of the main visitor attractions, including the "Living in Space" module/simulator (a cross-section look at the space station living quarters); the tram tour (visited the old mission control facility and Rocket Park, which houses the Saturn V rocket); and "Blast Off Theatre," where we got a look at the past, present and future of NASA's space flight history and had an opportunity to view mission-control and the shuttle Discovery's current stage in its mission... real-time.

While the boys played in the gargantuan playscape with hundreds of other kids, I took the last opportunity of the day to look at a full-size shuttle replica of the flight deck, which was probably one of the most interesting sights aside from seeing the Saturn V rocket lying sideways in a giant metal building!

Will we be purchasing season passes or visiting Space Center Houston in the next year? Not likely. But, we all had a fun day nonetheless!
